Dating back to the 13th century, Saris Castle boasts a rich history that echoes through its weathered stones and ancient ramparts. The castle is slowly being renovated with scaffolding on some of the Keeps or Towers.
Exploring the Fortress: What Parts Make Up the Castle
Comprising fortified towers, crumbling walls, and hidden chambers. Saris Castle offers a glimpse into medieval life and defense strategies. Visitors can wander through the castle grounds, imagining the echoes of past inhabitants.
After you cross over the drawbridge there is a small office where you purchase your entrance ticket. The castle wall contains many towers or Keeps in various state of repair. There is also an old earthen oven and the water source at the top of the hille is a well or spring.
We buy two tickets one of which gives us a guided tour of the central tower (in English) with the heart stone.

Upon reaching the castle, adventurers can rest and recharge at the on-site facilities. Including a visitor center offering guided tours, souvenir shop, toilet and refreshments. The castle also hosts cultural events and exhibitions, providing insight into Slovakia’s heritage.
We recommend you take water, snacks and a camera or phone of course. Binoculars for the panaoramic views would be a bonus!
