Cory Jones
Cory has a varied background in outdoor leadership and training. As a boy he was always bird watching on his local patch or around the north east where he was brought up.
Cory recently undertook the Wilderness Guide Training Programme to become a Wild Scotland Wilderness Guide. He is a qualified teacher, sea kayak leader, mountain leader and orienteering instructor. In the past he has been Centre Manager at Malham Tarn Field Centre, managed the Lake District National Park Education Service, been Head of Biodiversity and Life-long learning for Sheffield Wildlife Trust, managed rainforest conservation projects in the Philippines and worked overseas as a development adviser before setting up Walking and Wildlife Adventures. Cory is also the Director of Outdoor First Aid Limited and the First Aid Training Co-operative.
Cory has recently become a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a British Canoeing Endorsed Guide. He is also a qualified International Mountain Guide and a Mountain Weather Information Service Ambassador.
Since 2001 Cory has guided across the globe for a number of UK based expedition companies including KE Adventure, Mountain Kingdoms and Wilderness Expertise.
In 2017 Cory and Mandy walked 750 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail , the 390 mile Oregon Coast Trail, kayaked in the San Juan Islands off the Vancouver coastline and completed the Powell River Canoe Trail. Read about their adventures here or view them on their YouTube channel.
Cory has a passion for travel in, and on, the big mountain ranges of the world. He has experience of expedition leading in Pakistan, Ladakh, Nepal, Patagonia, the Middle East and Africa. Over the winter 2009/10 Cory led a three man team which successfully crossed the Southern Patagonian Ice Cap, a place reputed to have the worst weather in the world!
Cory has been on or led expeditions in Bolivia, India, Pakistan, China, Tibet, Malawi, Kenya, Namibia, Jordan, Uganda and Guyana.
